How do we do the calculation?

The CO2 calculator measures emissions from fuel or electricity used by the product. Emissions are calculated by multiplying hourly energy consumption with yearly time in use and energy-specific emission factors.
- Hourly energy consumption: Based on the machine's specifications (e.g., liters of petrol per hour or machine rated power).
- Time in use: Users provide an estimate of weekly usage hours per unit.
- Emission factors: For fuels, expressed in kg CO2e/liter (source: DEFRA). For electricity, expressed in kg CO2e/kWh, varying by country (source: IEA). These factors account for the full life cycle emissions, from raw material extraction to fuel combustion. They are updated annually with one year delay.
